Delhi (Capital of India) blended with some of the best tourist places that can be visited anytime of the year. Every year number of tourist comes to Delhi, India to see the best places to visit in Delhi. So, below the list of most visited Delhi places of all time –

1. Red Fort

There is no doubt that Red Fort is the first choice of travelers and the top visited place in Delhi. It was the first Delhi’s fort was made in 1639 by Mughal emperor Shahjahan, and one of the most famous historical places in India. The complete fort is made from red stones and marbles. You can see there group of travelers anyday except Monday (week off :)). It is very close to old Delhi and New Delhi railway stations both, so number of tourist starts their journey from Red Fort. The uniqueness of Red Fort makes it one of the top 10 best places to visit in Delhi, even one of the best places to visit in India.

2. Jama Masjid

As India is the symbol of World’s all religions, Jama Masjid is the faith religion symbol of our Muslim brothers. It was made in 1650 by Mughal emperor Shahjahan who built Taj Mahal and Red Fort. As per record, it took almost 13 years to build (1650). It is one of the biggest, famous and most beautiful mosques in India, even Asia. You can see there the excellent example of engineering of Mughals architecture and arts on marbles and stones. If you are a true lover of art, old engineering, religion, monuments and peace, Jama Masjid is one of the top recommended tourist places of Delhi.

3. Qutab Minar

Qutub Minar is the tallest (73 m-high) brick minaret (Minar) in India, and the oldest historical monument in Delhi. Sometimes I think, this is the most visited tourist place in India if I believe on this report (see report). It is the top visited tourist place in Delhi whenever you come to India for tourism. Generally, it opens all day.

4. Lotus Temple

Lotus temple is the great example of today’s structural design which recently become one of the most visited places in Delhi. A large lotus shape building attracts numbers of visitors from all over the world every day. It is the symbol of unity of all religions, blended with ponds, gardens and grass land. It is the excellent place if you want calm and reduce stress. Generally it opens all days.

5. India Gate

India Gate is the national monument of India that was built in memories of Indian/British Indian soldiers who lost their life for India in World War- I to save the prominence of the mighty Empire. This is very charming area with well surrounded by lush green lawns. You will always feel positive energy there especially if you visit at night in colorful floodlights. It is also one of most visited picnic spot in Delhi. It opens always, 24 Hours. 🙂

6. Humayun’s Tomb

In first sight, you will think that it is the customized copy of Taj Mahal. Yes, it is. Because it was the inspiration from Taj Mahal. It is the home of Mughal emperor Humayun’s body, and famous for its world class Mughals architecture and the art of handmade designing on stones and marbles. So If you are visiting in Delhi, Humayun’s Tomb is a must go place for awesome sightseeing, and the symbol of the best tourist Attractions in Delhi. Generally, it opens all days.

7. Lodi Garden

If you are tired and looking for relax in busy city life, then Lodi garden is the best calm place for you that blended with top class green lush lawns and park. You can feel there the power of nature that releases your daily health stress. Generally, it opens all days, but Sunday is particularly busy.

8. Chandani Chowk

Chandani Chowk, well known as the address of old Delhi, famous for delicious street foods, busy shops, inexpensive traditional market of cloths, electronics, and the magic of the rustic charm of the area. 10. Connaught Place

Delhi tourism can’t complete without visiting Connaught Place. Located at the center of Delhi (near to New Delhi railway station), it has the large collections of all the things what a tourist can expect. There are world class five star hotels, showrooms of almost all top brands, expensive restaurant, best multiplexer/theaters, busy gardens, best nightclub/pubs, and busy nightlife makes it most popular tourist attractions in Delhi (Connaught Place).

In one word, we can say that Connaught Place is the shopping center of entire Delhi. But there are also some cheap and reasonable areas for shopping likes palikabazaar, Janpath market etc.

  4. There is one correction:

    India Gate is for soldiers who fought in WW1 along with the british army, not against them.

    India at that time was a british colony and the Indian armed forces were under the British command.

    I am goining to stay at new delhi kali bari. Can anyone suggest me which place should i visit first red fort or qutub minar

      Both are just 40 minutes of drive from Kali Bari New Delhi. But Red Fort is much near rather than Qutub Minar, so if distance is not an issue, you can visit any place first.

  8. I am living in Delhi for many years and have visited these places many times,especially akshardham temple.I did love them all.It no there are other places in Delhi which are more good than these,especially Nehru planetarium,Gandhi museum,adventure island and science museum.

  9. Basically i am from Mumbai and I recently went to Delhi my experience was awesome i love their language and the famous dish “nalli nihari”, but didn’t mention Tajmahal i know it comes in Agra.

    I will visit Delhi in December for first time. In the morning 6.30 AM i will reach and have to return back within 7 PM for night train. In between this time where will i visit & how much will be the cab fare.
